Fight Back: What Ohioans Need to Know

Updates

October 15th, 2018 People Across Ohio are struggling with the high cost of health insurance and prescription drugs.  We know this issue is extremely important to every Ohioan and especially imperative for folks in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton.  The most important message for all Ohioans: Mike DeWine has always stood with the insurance and drug companies, not with the people of Ohio, and that's why costs keep going up.  On his first day as Attorney General, he sued to eliminate protection for people with pre-existing conditions like cancer, diabetes, and asthma so that insurance companies could deny coverage and increase rates. He can’t hold the insurance industry accountable because he’s taken over $2.6M in campaign contributions. Ohio needs a Governor who will stand up to insurance and drug companies and start driving costs down for Ohioans.

In addition to healthcare, we have a critical message for the African American community in Akron, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, Columbus, and Cincinnati to  hear: the differences between Mike DeWine and Rich Cordray.  The most important part: President Obama's vocal support for Rich Cordray's accomplishments and values especially when contrasted with Donald Trump's vocal support for Mike DeWine and their agenda which has stripped away healthcare, reduced economic opportunity, and demeaned the community.

October 3rd, 2018 The most important message for Ohioans – especially in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton: Mike DeWine tried to take away insurance for people with pre-existing conditions on his first day as attorney general.  There is no more important issue than DeWine's record on health care, specifically pre-existing and how his actions have led to increased costs for prescription drugs and insurance.  Insurance industry profits have soared and he's taken over $2.6M in campaign contributions from them.  This issue, and not medicaid expansion, is the most important for Ohioans.

September 10th, 2018 People Across Ohio are struggling with the high cost of health insurance and prescription drugs.  We know this issue is extremely important to every Ohioan and especially imperative for folks in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton.  Mike DeWine, over his 42 years in politics, has always stood with the insurance and drug companies, not with the people of Ohio.

The most important message for Ohioans: During Mike DeWine’s 42 years in politics he’s always stood with the insurance and drug companies.  When he was in Washington DC he voted to allow insurance companies to increase rates and blocked attempts to force drug companies to reduce their costs and voted to strip away Medicare funding for seniors.  On his first day as Attorney General, he sued to eliminate protection for people with pre-existing conditions like cancer, diabetes, and asthma so that insurance companies could deny coverage and increase rates. He can’t hold the insurance industry accountable because he’s taken over $1.2M in campaign contributions. Ohio needs a Governor who will stand up to insurance and drug companies and start driving costs down for Ohioans.

August 31st, 2018 Elections are choices. To the people across Ohio, here’s the truth about Mike DeWine: over his 42 years of running for political office, Mike DeWine has consistently sided with the wealthy, the powerful and the big corporations at the expense of hard-working Ohioans. He voted for massive tax giveaways to Wall Street, while voting to restrict overtime pay for workers and voting four times against increasing the minimum wage.  He consistently supported unfair trade deals that cost Ohio jobs and then, to make it worse, voted against providing assistance to workers who lost their jobs because of those deals.  Wall St. rewarded him with over $1,738,920 in political contributions to help him keep funding his campaigns. Mike DeWine’s 42 year record is consistent and clear: he’s with the wealthy, powerful and big corporations - not working Ohioans.

August 7th, 2018 The RGA and Mike DeWine’s campaign are smearing Rich Cordray in ads airing in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Dayton. These attacks must be countered. And our most compelling evidence of why these attacks are false: Rich's positive accomplishments that clearly demonstrate he is the only candidate who will fight for working Ohioans. Here is our message to the people of Ohio who are seeing these attack ads: Rich Cordray has taken on the tough fights in Ohio and Washington against those who have cheated or mistreated working families, consumers and retirees. During his time as Ohio’s Treasurer and Attorney General, he was a fierce advocate for Ohioans who had been ripped off and treated unfairly. That’s why President Obama chose Rich to be the nation’s top consumer watchdog, where he stood up to big banksWall Streetandpayday lendersholding them accountable for cheatingpeople out of their hard-earned money. As governor, Rich will focus on putting money back in the pockets of working Ohioans, by bringing down health care costs, lowering taxes for the middle class and making sure people have the vocational training they need to get jobs that let them live a middle-class life.
